PARISIEN, Maurice – Mr. Maurice Raymond Parisien ( co-owner of Parisien Fashion Ltd.) at the Cornwall Community Hospital – McConnell Site on Thursday January 10, 2013 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of Jacqueline Parisien (née Beauchemin). They met and fell in love in grade 1 at St. Francis de Sales School! Moe’s lifetime union with Jackie will fuel memories for a lifetime for his wife and children, Carole and Pierre (Sandra) Parisien. Cherished grandfather of Melanie Léger (Michel) and Chantal. Dear son of the late Arthur and Laura (née Brunet) Parisien. Dear brother of Remi and Victor (Helen) of Cornwall and Suzanne (Marshall) Frank of Melourne, Florida.
Maurice, a consummate “River Rat” was honoured in 1983 by the CORNWALL LIONS CLUB as Fishing “Sportsman of the year”. The year prior, Moe & son team were named the 1982 “Top Pickerel Fisherman” in the “Annual LABATT’S Ontario Fishing CHAMPION PICKEREL TOURNAMENT”. Always up for the challenges and experiences with the goal of helping others less fortunate, he will be sadly missed by those who tirelessly helped and participated in Moe’s Volleyball tournaments that raised funds for various charities (community contributions include purchase of morphine pumps for Cornwall cancer patients, Baldwin House etc.). His passion for having fun will be missed by those belonging to other such groups as the “Golden Bears Annual Curling Bonspiel, the Parisien Volleyball Team and the ‘Parisien Group’ traveling Golfers whose membership ballooned from a foursome to 34. He will also be missed by Domtar co-workers, Alguire & Brownell Century 21 co-workers and the South Lancaster Fish & Game Club. May the brotherhood of ‘River Rats” be safer with Moe hovering over you! In keeping with Maurice’s wishes cremation has taken place. The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be celebrated in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church on Friday January 18, 2013 at 10:30 AM. The family will receive condolences at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall. If so desired, memorial contributions in his memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimers Society would be appreciated by the family.
